A variety of different size solar panels may be needed for your gate opener. 
Normally on a swing gate system, the 10 watt panel is the one required,solar panels should face north, giving the solar panel the most days sunlight. For the sliding gate opener, Normally a 20 watt panel is the one required, as the slide gate motor uses more power than a swing gate opener. Also storing energy in the panel, gives you more openings on those cloudy & bleak days. All solar gate openers work great with smaller size solar panels, they may not give you as many openings per day you may require, depending on daily usage, and naturally the weather state you live in, allways ask your supplier whats best.
Many of the solar panels have a 15 to 20 year warranty or more. A common warranty states that the panels will produce at least 80% of their rated power after 20 years, buying a quility solar panel is very important in regards to the volume of use & size. |
Locating your solar panel.
A key factor in the effective use of solar electricity is proper placement of the solar panel. Make sure to locate the panel where they will receive full sunlight between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm, Facing North is the best direction. Be sure that the solar panel will not be shaded by shadows from trees, branches, etc.
